Scaler Ayush Gupta Shares His Amazon Interview Experience

Ayush Gupta hails from a small town in Uttar Pradesh where dreams are only confined to securing a government job or a private job with a decent package.

Passionate about coding from early on, he decided to pursue CS from IIT Bombay but was unable to clear it. With his dream shattered, he decided to pursue BSC in Mathematics which gave him a chance to rethink his career choices on completing his graduation.

Although he was academically good, securing the first position all over India in the MSc entrance exam for IIT Dhanbad, he decided to take a different turn and pursue MCA from NIT Bhopal. In his pre-final year, he got an opportunity to apply for an internship at Microsoft but couldn't clear the last round. This got him thinking, amidst all the preparation there's something he lacked, when he decided to take up a course and enrolled for our Scaler Academy program. His aspirations of becoming a successful coder took a turn for the better when he landed a job offer as a Software Engineer at Amazon. Here is the link to his complete story.

Introduction to Pointers in C

What are Pointers in C?  A pointer is a variable that holds the address of another variable. A pointer is a derived data type in C. All the computers have addressable memory locations. The value of these variables is stored in these memories only. We can access these values of the variable in 2 ways: (i) By using the name of the variable. (ii) By using the address of a variable. The use of pointers are made in the second method Values stored in pointers are addresses, where data is stored in memory. Example:           int i = 8;           i → name of the variable           8 → value at address           65599 → address in the memory. How to Use Pointers in C? If we declare a variable i of type int, it will store a value.  int i = 0 The value of i is 0 now However, each variable, apart from value, also has its own address (or the address of the location where the value is saved in memory).
